Dot Trademark Sponsors Thomson Reuters’ Asian Legal Business (ALB) In-House Legal Summit

Dot Trademark TLD Holding Company Limited (“Dot Trademark”) participated in the annual Asian Legal Business (ALB) In-House Legal Summit (“the Summit”) as a sponsor on 13 September 2016. Over 300 in-house counsels, legal practitioners and industry experts attended the Summit.


Dennis Cai, President of Policy and Compliance of Dot Trademark, first presented a brief overview of Online Infringement and Digital Brand Protection in China, addressing domain name developments and infringement cases in Mainland China. Dennis also moderated a panel discussion, consisting of IP practitioners, experts and scholars from different jurisdictions.

Panel speakers included, Dr. Christopher To (Arbitrator and Executive Director of the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council), Professor Julien Chaisse (Director of the Center for Financial Regulation and Economic Development of the Chinese University of Hong Kong), Mr. David L. Kreider (Chartered Arbitrator and Chairman of the New Zealand National Committee of the ICC Court of International Arbitration), Mr. Sim Sze Kuan (Vice President of Legal Affairs at Bracell Limited), and Mr. Alban Kwan (Country Manager of Greater China from CSC Digital Brand Services).


The panel speakers addressed several issues related to the current domain name landscape, and provided thoughtful domain name protection and strategy advice to trademark owners considering recent developments in regulatory frameworks.

Dennis also participated in a panel discussion on Cross-Border Data Protection and Privacy Management, demonstrating his in-depth understanding of domain name disputes and cyber security. Both sessions were included active audience and delegate discussion.  


The Dot Trademark exhibition booth attracted many of the delegates who showed strong interest in the use of .商标 domain as on-line trademark symbol, and Dot Trademark’s innovative trademark rights verification mechanism.
